Lacey Real Estate

What was once a “bedroom community” for Olympia is now the flourishing city of Lacey. As the opportunities multiply, so does the number of people who have discovered this enchanting community and made it their choice to call home. Lacey was officially incorporated in the 1960s, making it a relatively young community at heart. The city’s youthful spirit encourages residents to enjoy quality lifestyles in its small town setting with all the conveniences found in major urban centers.

Agriculture was an economic staple in Lacey for many years, but job options have extended to include businesses in manufacturing, retail, tourism and other industries. Of the more than 33,000 people who reside in Lacey, some professionals also commute to Olympia and Tacoma, both of which are connected by Interstate 5. The city government in Lacey works hard to put an emphasis on consumer-oriented services to provide residents with a pleasant experience, whether they are requesting a building permit or getting a library card. Education is also a top priority for residents, and more than 13,000 students receive a well-rounded learning experience while attending North Thurston Public Schools. Higher educational needs are met by Saint Martin's University, which is the only Benedictine college west of the Rocky Mountains.

The popularity of Lacey can also be attributed to its close proximity to many lakes and forests in the area. The surrounding natural landscape provides countless recreational activities including hiking, biking, boating, swimming and fishing. The city maintains many parks for residents to enjoy with each offering its own facilities. Long Lake Park features a swimming beach, sand volleyball courts, barbecue pits and walking trails. In a joint effort with Thurston County, Lacey has the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC), which includes turf soccer fields, walking trails and restrooms. Expansion for RAC is planned with the addition of lighted ball diamonds, picnic and outdoor facilities and playgrounds.

Other city parks include Brooks Park, Civic Plaza, Homann Park, Lake Lois Park & Habitat Preserve, Rainier Vista Community Park, Thornbury Park, William A. Bush Park, Wonderwood Park and Woodland Creek Community Park. Many regional parks are also convenient for Lacey residents such as a wildlife refuge, nature center and conservation areas. If that wasn’t enough, Lacey also provides golfers, shoppers and entertainers with plenty of opportunities to hone their skills.

Lacey has several golf courses that offer challenging games to players at every experience level. These courses are The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie, Capital City Golf Course and Indian Summer Golf & Country Club. The South Sound Center, which was one of the largest indoor malls in the Northwest, has been partially redevelopment as an outdoor shopping area anchored by Sears, Target and Kohl’s. For those who enjoy watching or participating in community plays and productions, the Performance Stage at Thomas W. Huntamer Park and the North Thurston Performing Arts Center offer various events throughout the season. Whether you are buying or selling Lacey real estate, Nancy Griego will use for expertise to make the process as smooth as possible for you and your family.
